I haven’t watched GENERATIONS since Pamela Nomvete left, but I was so happy to hear that they had written in a gay character. I was chuffed to find out that it is not a stereotypical gay character, but rather a regular gay guy, who is dealing with his sexuality. (not that us stereotypes are not regular)
Generations had their first gay kiss last week, and within a week, all hell has broken loose. People have turned to Facebook, and within one week, over 19000 people have joined this group, “we will stop watching generations if senzo and jason continue kissing”
I read some of the comments, and it hurts me, to realise that there are over 19000 people who are openly against an onscreen gay relationship. And some of the comments are very mean, to both homosexuals and the creators of Generations. I applaud Mfundi (creator of Generations) for eventually writing a gay character.
What is sad is that there are 19000 idiots on Facebook, who have enough time to make a big “…hu ha…”. (must be the lowest LSM)
I think the creators of this group should wake up, its 2009.

A bit about Mika Stefano...
Mika Stefano was born on the 19th May 1986 at the Morningside Clinic. His full name is Mikhael Stefano, but Mika soon become the name everyone used.
Mika went to an all boy's school and it was here he discovered his sexuality. He would usually play all the female leading roles in the school productions. It was on this stage he fell in love with the performing arts. After Mika finished primary school he went to the National School of Arts, where he excelled in both academics and drama. Mika started up and edited a monthly newsletter as well as planned several school events. It was here Mika became his flamboyant self and turned into the diva we all know. Mika then went onto to study a specialized theatre course and directed several productions. By this point Mika was ready for the big world and he got his first acting 'job' at the Joburg Theatre (previously known as the Civic Theatre)
He also acted in A Mid Summers Nights Dream, King Lear, Arcadia and Joseph and his Amazing Techni-Coloured Dream Coat at the Joburg Theatre. Mika then joined the marketing team at the Market Theatre, were he worked on many productions including Sophiatown, Sarafina, Joe Barber and Shreds and Dreams. Mika also chaired the youth section of an Arts and Culture committee called PANSA (Performing Arts Network Of South Africa)
Whilst working at the Market Theatre, his alter ego drag character, Steffi T gained popularity and become one of Johannesburg's most recognized drag queens. But Mika has laid his wig's to rest and he is focusing on developing his own personal brand; MIKA STEFANO.
Mika currently works at the Old Mutual Theatre on the Square in Sandton. He is the Marketing, Publicity and FOH Manager. He has worked with lots of well known actors, including the late Ashley Callie and Patrick Mynhardt.
Mika is slowly working on his blog and setting up his own website, www.mikastefano.com. This will feature the latest celeb gossip as well as his much loved social reviews and a weekly gig guide. His blogs also include various fashion tips and the ever so popular HOT OR NOT, where readers are encouraged to share their opinions on various peoples outfits. Mika Stefano is usually seen at the hottest events and parties in Johannesburg and is slowly becoming a true social butterfly! Mika Stefano has been lucky enough to be a guest presenter on MTV Base as well as interviewing international singer, Kelly Rowland for a MTV HIV AIDS special. Mika has also been called on to 3talk with Noleen to review movies. Most recently Mika Stefano performed in a live performance art exhibition at the bag factory. The exhibition was themed around media and paparazzi and these generated a great interest around his blog. At the same time Mika Stefano coordinated and produced his very first art exhibition called AU79. This was held at Goldbar in Rosebank's Design District. The main idea behind the exhibition was to introduce young people to art, in a creative sociable way.
Mika Stefano was also a guest presenter on YFM's Breakfast Show with Dineo.
Mika Stefano's personal style can be described in three words, BOLD, VIBRANT and FRESH. He is usually the bitchy gay guy who sits in the front row at all the fashion week and he always insist on a goodie bag! Mika Stefano doesn't like to shop at any specific store, but rather shop around. If there is a sale, Mika Stefano will be there. If there is a bargain, Mika Stefano will know about it. He believes true style, is how you make something work for you. You could rock a plastic bag, if you know how! And between us.... Mika Stefano knows how!

fact is generations is targeted at a really narrow minded market in this country. The type who shouted and threw insults to Pamela Nomvete when she was playing Nitsiki. They dont understand and just cant comprehend that there are other cultures and different types of ppl other than those in thier little circle! Im glad that there is going to be a gay couple on the screen, it makes the soapy alot more interesting! other than watching the ‘cream’ of black SA running around aimlessly in their caracters… if that is what the 19000 ppl in that group want to watch – ey man then we are really not going to get any sort of value out of sa televison.
Hope that Mr Mfundi Vundla does not get pressured into changing anything with this story line!

I am an Indian who has being watching Generations for ten years. It has taught me alot about life as a young person. However ever since the jason/senzo scene i change the channel when those two are on. I undestand that the producer is trying to teach us to accept gay people as also humans and care for them. But i think that the producer is not being subtle in the scenes and flirty words between two men. The Bible says : What’s the use if a man gains the whole world but looses his soul in the process. Jason, Senzo and the producer migh t be getting paid alot for this, but the möney is not worth this. They will have to answer öne day to God. Or this acting might become real life when one of their family members are gay and they will realise how painful it is to find out something like this. Remember you reap what you sow.
It’s not about being gay ! Why categorise, it’s about being with who you are attracted to. These are moden times people, the new generation of spending time with who ever you want to !
