 Robin Schulz  is a German electronic DJ and producer with mostly deep house productions. On February 4, 2014, he released the first single from his debut album, a remix of “Waves” by Dutch hip hop artist Mr Probz. This remix later received a nomination for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. His follow-up single, released June 6, 2014, was a remix of the Lilly Wood & the Prick track “Prayer in C” from their 2010 album Invincible Friends. Both remixes have charted in many European countries and the United States, leading to international recognition for Schulz. He co-founded Lausbuben Records with Daniel Bruns and Christopher Noble. His references in electronic music are Todd Terry, Armand Van Helden, Roger Sanchez, Tiesto and the Epic Sax Guy.

#UltraSA2015 – What a turn up…

So this past Saturday, Johannesburg got its second taste of the world famous Ultra Music Festival. Now after last year I was not going to miss a single moment of this year’s festival. Planning on arriving early, sadly due to a bit of traffic, this didn’t happen. However we arrived mid afternoon and made our way into the second annual Ultra Music Festival.

I was lucky enough to be sharing the day (and most of the night) with two special friends – Thuto and Jerri. And I think that’s the most important festival rule. Go with people you enjoy spending time with. Because you don’t wanna not be with them and then they get lost in the crowd. We made our meeting point the Heineken Viewing Deck, that overlooked the sea of dancers. This was such a cool highlight to this years festival. Not only was the view spectacular – the breeze from up there was simply refreshing and often needed.

In addition to the not so busy bar that served Ice cold Heineken’s.

The usual two – Twins On Decks were having a great time as usual. I think its our unofficial thing. to have a good time at Ultra. Lets hope Ultra 2016 consider these two guys to be a part of the line up.

I also saw DJ Capital taking a break from the regular hip hop clubs and raving along with the millions of people who attended.

Fitness Guru, Jovanka was also there with her crew, who became our crew…

Another highlight was raving with my two brother. Theses two have become a young thirst trap – leaving me with my shirt on – whilst they showed off their gains… Ultra 2016 Im going shirts off too…

Also bumped into one of the lucky Joburg Winners – who entered my competition.

I must say, Ultra is something else – you need to prepare yourself for the razzle – because there is no other turn up as hectic as Ultra. My highlights were Armin (what a legend – especially the Ping Pong Song) Jerri and I were going cray cray, Gorgon City – who were defiantly UNMISSABLE and local legend of note, Black Coffee.

I feel I was robbed… There were three awesome stages (and at every moment of the day – there was an awesome DJ on) It felt like I had to sacrifice two dance floors for one… 😦 Wish I was able to split myself into three, so I dont have post Ultra FOMO (And I was there…lol…)

Looking forward to 2016. Another note – Please can they move it back to the grass. Stomping on the tar roaded carpark became sore after three DJ sets…

#RIPSimba – till we meet again…

Till we meet again Simba. What a sad loss to the South African Entertainment industry. By far one of the friendliest, most humble, down to earth, easily approachable men I’ve ever known. A friendly giant, will be missed forever. RIP Simba. I think my collection of selfies explains the kind of man he was – loved by all, a true gentleman. I guess we’ll have to hit that gym session in heaven now dear friend…

Well done Somizi on becoming the new Idols judge.

I was thrilled when I received this press release announcing Somizi as the new Idols judge.

South Africa’s most flamboyant and successful choreographer, Somizi Mhlongo, has joined the Idols SA judging panel.

Somgaga – as he is fondly known amongst his many fans – will be the fourth judge alongside veteran Idols SA judges Randall Abrahams, Unathi Msengana and Gareth Cliff for the eleventh season of South Africa’s biggest TV talent competition, it was announced at the first day of auditions today at the State Theatre in Pretoria.

This is the first time since founding judge Dave Thompson left the show at the end of Season 5 (2009) that Idols SA has a four-person Idols panel.

“I literally couldn’t sleep last night!” an excited Somizi said just before he was introduced to the big crowd of wannabe Idols stars, who waited in anticipation to find out who this year’s judges would be. “I’ve never had a wedding but I imagine it feels a little like this. I’ve known about this for about two months already and I didn’t tell a soul,” he continued, “not even Unathi, and we’ve been working on her music video together every day!”

Somizi became a quick favourite with the Idols viewers when he mentored the Top 6 for the Idols SA Season 10 “Showstoppers” episode last year. “Somizi is pure showbiz – he understands what it takes for a performer to really engage an audience, over and above just the music,” Idols SA producer/director Gavin Wratten said today. “That’s why we think his perspective will be an invaluable perspective in the judging process.”

“I will be judging the ‘razzmatazz’,” Somizi explains. “Contestants are warned: from now on a good voice alone isn’t enough anymore – I’m going to want contestants who have showmanship!”

“Gareth, Randall and Unathi are a fantastic judging team,” M-Net Head of Publicity Lani Lombard noted, “but we thought it would be valuable to add some extra ‘zing’ this year with South Africa’s ‘king of bling’.”

Somizi Mhlongo was born into Mzansi showbiz, as the son of the late comedian Ndaba Mhlongo and veteran actress Mary Twala. He has been at the vanguard of South African entertainment for many years, in musical theatre and also as the choreographer of choice for music videos and live productions, including the Channel O Africa Music Video Awards and the Miss South Africa pageant. He has also served as a talent show judge for two seasons of Dance Your Butt Off.

Idols SA Season 11 officially kicked off at the State Theatre in Pretoria this weekend. The next audition session be in Cape Town at the GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World on Saturday 7 February, and thereafter the Idols team will scour talent at The Playhouse in Durban. The KZN auditions take place on Saturday 21 February. The final auditions for Idols SASeason 11 will take place at Carnival City East of Johannesburg on Saturday 1 March.

Cashtime Reality Show

Some more exciting news for Cashtime Fam, not only have they welcomed Nomuzi as their first lady and working on a few solo albums respectively. Well, rumour has it they are busy filming their own reality TV show.

I caught up with the sexy Nomuzi who confirmed the reality show rumours (that I started) – she said it should hit MTV in March. How exciting!!! Well done guys! – Funny, I think this could be a dope show.
