Spotted at the MiCasa SuCasa CD Launch

Last week MiCasa launched their second album with a special show at Sandton’s music. I thought it was going to be a small little event, but when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised. There was a whole stage set up in the middle of Sandton, with loads of people.

I was a VIP guest, naturally, but I spent most of the evening in the non VIP area, just so I could get a better view of the MiCasa boys performing. Luckily I received a copy of the CD a few days earlier, so I had already fallen in love with a few of the songs. So when the performed them for the first time, I could sing along… Talk about biggest fan tendencies…

A lot of industry friends came out to support South Africa’s biggest selling group, MiCasa. It was obvious love was in the air and I guess thats what MiCasa are all about…

These are a few of the people I spotted,

5FMDJ, MsCosmo laughing at me… lol… The amazingly talented Jimmy Nevis from Cape Town… Love his song with MiCasa on the new album… AKA came to show some love… Gold Grillz and all…The sexy MTV VJ, Nomuzi…Vuzu’s Dineo wasn’t trying to pretend it was fashion week. She was there for one reason and one reason only. To watch MiCasa perform. She kept warm and snug…

YFM DJ, DJ Warras came late, but at least he came… YFM’s Mulo was also there. Strange to see him without a drink in his hand… I did the groupie thing and got the guys to sign my CD.

Jacqui Carpede doesn’t Fade Away

Jacqui Carpede, better known as 1/3rd of Jamali has decided to release a solo album titled Ready to Love. Jamali have been in the industry for over 10 years. She insists that they are not splitting, but simply following other dreams.

She loves performing and singing is her passion. Her new album has everything from up tempo dance ,house, electro and even a bit of funk.

The first single is called Fade Away.

Spotted at the launch of Maps Maponyane’s OCD Fashion Range with Augustine

The hunky, talented and much loved model launched a new partnership between himself and a local label called Augustine. He has been voted as one of the countries best dressed men. He is focused and determined to make a mark in the industry… In fact, I said he is one of the people we should look out for in 2013. 

He hosted a small event, that was actually a really big event at the Augustine studio’s in Parkhurst.

Spotted at the MTVBase VJ Search Launch

 

It seems like MTV Base are looking for a new VJ to join the family. It was just the other day Nomuzi joined the team and has already interviewed great African and international artists. I wonder is Sizwe is planning on leaving… He has been with the station since 1995… He was the emcee for the evening and is also one of the judges, so it doesnt seem like he is going anywhere. (#whew…)

The launch was held at The Venue in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg. This year, MTV Base have signed a deal with Citreon, who will provide the winner (the new VJ) with a sexy new car. Sizwe made a comment that when he auditioned the only prize he got was the actual job… When I saw the car, I considered entering. I think Nomuzi also thought she should have waited just one more year so she could have walked or better yet, driven away with a new car…

Bonang joins the panel of judges again. She has helped discover the likes of Loot Love and Nomuzi. Joey Rasdien will also be judging this year. He wasnt to help find a VJ, who is not only sexy, but who is also entertaining and funny. Here he is with my friend, Genevieve. Gen is one of the Mrs SA finalists. She is also a well known house music vocalist. Remember her name, its going to be on your lips soon.
